<p><strong>1. Las Lajas Cathedral</strong></p>

<p>Location:  Southwestern Colombia near Ecuador border.</p>
<p>The construction of the cathedral was started in 1916 and it was completed in 1944. The official completion of the cathedral was on August 20,1949.  It was built entirely with donations from local people.</p>
<p>It was built in a strikingly vivid region and firmly clings to a rock wall. The river water of  Guaitara flows below it. The image of the Virgin Mary is visible from the highest altar of Las Lajas Cathedral.</p>

<p><strong>2. Sagrada Familia</strong></p>

<p>Location: Barcelona, the chief port of Spain on the NE Mediterranean coast.</p>
<p>The construction work of Sargada Familia  began on 19 March  1882 by Francisco de Paula del Villar. At the end of year 1883 Anton Gaudi (1852-1926) got involved in the project and was a part of the project until his death in 1926. Since then the work has been continued by several architects.</p>
<p>The Sargada Familia has been built from donations.</p>
<p>Gaudí himself said: &#8220;The expiatory church of La Sagrada Família is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people.&#8221;</p>
<p>It has been under construction since 1882 and is supposed to be completed in 2026 or2028.</p>
<p><strong>3. St. Basil’s Cathedral</strong></p>

<p>the construction work of st Basil&#8217;s began in 1555 on the order of Ivan after the victory of Kazan and Astrakhan. It was completed in 1561.</p>

<p>Hagia sophia  is an important monumen for Byzantine and Ottoman empires.</p>
<p>It was originally founded by Constantine the Great. It was rebuilt in 537 on the order of  Emperor Justinian.it had remained the center of Christianity until 1453. The city was conquered by ottomans:they transformed it into a grand mosque of the Sultans. In 1935 it was converted into a museum of Turkish Republic.  Hagia  Sophia was chosen world heritage site by UNESCO in 1985.</p>
<p><strong>4. St. Peter’s Basilica</strong></p>

<p>St. Peter&#8217;s Basilica covers an area of 5.7 acres(23000 mt.) and has a capacity of over 60,000 people</p>
<p>St. Peter&#8217;s Basilica was originally founded by Constantine in 324 AD and then the construction of the current building was started in 1506  and completed in 1615 by Renaissance masters Michelangelo , Donato Bramante and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.</p>
<p>Michelangelo designed the dome Gian Lorenzo Bernini designed the main square and Donato Bramante was the chief architect of the church.</p>

<p><strong>5. Notre Dame</strong></p>

<p>Notre Dame de paris (our lady of Paris) is also known as Notre Dame Cathedral. Bishop Maurice de Sully started the construction of cathedral  in 1163. It was mostly completed by 1250 and the remaining elements were completed from 1250-1345.</p>
<p><strong>6. Hallgrímskirkja</strong></p>

<p>Location: Reykjavik, Iceland.</p>
<p>It took 38 years to complete this master piece. the construction of the church started in 1945 and was completed in 1986.The building was designed by former state architect Gudjon Samuelson and  resembles volcanic basalt rock formations. It is named after the name of an Icelandic poet Hallgrimur Petursson.</p>
<p>It is the largest church in Iceland;  its about 244ft (74.5m) long.</p>
<p><strong>7. Jubilee Church</strong></p>

<p>Richard Meier was the architect.the construction of the church began in 1998 and completed in2003.</p>
